The final concert of the 2007/2008 Performing Arts Series will be held on Saturday evening, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Royal Oak First United Methodist Church.

The program, entitled "Masses for the masses" will feature two contrasting settings of the mass. Franz Schubert's Mass in G is a delightfully romantic setting for choir, soloists, and will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra. The Sanctus choir will be singing this audience favorite, along with soloists from the choir. The second half of the concert, the Sanctus choir will be joined by the Chancel Choir from First UMC in Dearborn to present the toe-tapping Robert Ray Gospel Mass, accompanied by bass and drums, and Detroit gospel pianist extraordinaire, Alvin Waddles III, all under the direction of Dr. Craig Scott Symons.

This performance is free to the public, with a free-will offering received for continuation of the series. The church is located in downtown Royal Oak at the corner of 7th and Washington and free parking is available behind the church and a municipal structure is at 6th and Lafayette for a nominal fee.
For further information, call 248-541-4100 x 1311 or see the church website at www.rofum.org

She had cancer four years ago.  Through suffering, she realized that it is important to be her "real self" as a person and as a performer.  This experience has added depth in her music, and has helped he to create an innvative way of voice training:  The Earth Energy Method.  With this method, she has developed a unique vocal style.  According to her, this method allows her to interact with the energies of nature as she sings.  Her repertoire ranges from classical to popular tunes.  She performs throughout the Kansai region of Japan.
